The AWCC Committee is delighted to announce the appointment of our Senior Captains for the upcoming season.
In what has been a very busy winter for the committee, it was most pleasing to have a number of fantastic Captaincy options thrown into the ring. We genuinely appreciate the interest and willingness to assist both on and off the field!
As outlined a couple of months ago, Matt Cox will captain the 1st XI for 2010/11. With an exciting young side strengthened with some fantastic new recruits and returns, Coxy is looking forward to a huge summer.
Greg Bland has been appointed Skipper of the 2nd XI. We all know Blandy’s batting prowess and his experience and explosive talents will ensure our 2s are right in the premiership hunt. We also thank Marcus Mitchell for his fantastic leadership last season and look forward to another huge season with the bat from Mitch!
Keiran Rogers (pictured) will captain the 3rd XI in what will be an important year for our developing turf cricketers. With a focus on ensuring some experienced campaigners join forces with our budding colts, Kenny’s bowling, batting and fielding will also add tremendously to the 3s, who this season play half One Day and half Two day games.
Premiership hero, Phil Yeo will again take charge of the mighty 5ths in a quest for back-to-back flags in the One Day comp. Phil will ensure his troops are ready to rock and will once again provide the perfect grooming ground for our young players transitioning from Juniors and some our ‘mature’ friends still dreaming of that ultimate day in the sun!
The 4th XI role is still to be confirmed, but an announcement is to hopefully be made shortly. If you are potentially keen to lead the flag favourites onto the hallowed Ferndale this summer, let Pres BK know!
Congratulations to all of our captains and we wish them all the very best.
Remember, AWCC is your club, so get behind these guys and success will be the story!
